Term Limited Lease Assistance Program

Effective January 1, 2012, the Housing Authority will implement the Term Limited Lease Assistance Program to help families achieve economic independence. As of November 1, 2011, all new families (non-elderly, non-disabled), pulled from the Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting list will be part of this new program. They will receive a maximum of five years of lease assistance and case management to access the resources and gain the tools necessary to ultimately be on a path towards economic independence.

Assisting Families to Achieve Self-Sufficiency

The Housing Authority’s Career Development Initiatives staff will work with each adult program participant to develop a personalized education and/or professional action plan. Staff will also help participants to leverage existing resources in the community, including our computer labs and job counseling services available at the Housing Authority’s various affordable housing communities.

Determining the Lease Assistance Amount

For families initially leasing under this program prior to October 1, 2017, the termed lease assistance will be the smaller of the contract rent or 50% of the applicable payment standard, whichever is lower. As a participant’s income increases, their rent portion will not be increased. Families can utilize the difference for savings or to invest in activities that will assist them in their path towards economic independence.

For families initially leasing under this program on or after October 1, 2017, the Housing Authority subsidy and family rent portion shall be calculated using the same methodology established via the Streamlined Fixed Lease Assistance for Career Focused Families Program.
